A Simplified Plasma Current Profile Model for Tokamak Control

چکیده
The purpose of this paper is to present a simplified model of the current and temperature dynamics of tokamak plasma. It is focused on the diffusion behaviors and relates the profiles of physical variables to engineering control inputs. The Scilab/Scicos environment is used for the numerical implementation of this model. This work is a first step towards the control of the current profile.

Integrated Magnetic and Kinetic Control of Advanced Tokamak Scenarios Based on Data-Driven Models
The first real-time profile control experiments integrating magnetic and kinetic variables were performed on DIII-D in view of regulating and extrapolating advanced tokamak scenarios to steady state devices and burning plasma experiments. The integrated model-based approach that was used is generic and is being developed under the framework of the International Tokamak Physics Activity for Inte...

The paper presents the design and simulation results of the combined multivariable control system with the plant input constraints for a plasma current profile in a tokamak. The plasma kinetic model was used in terms of the Grad-Shafranov plasma equilibrium equation and the poloidal magnetic flux diffusion equation. The model is square specifically contains 5 inputs and 5 outputs. Actuators are...
متن کاملFirst-Principles-Driven Model-Based Control of the Poloidal Magnetic Flux Profile at the DIII-D Tokamak
Efficient, high-gain operation of a tokamak device requires the achievement of certain radial shapes for the toroidal current profile. The evolution in time of the toroidal current profile in tokamaks is related to the evolution of the poloidal magnetic flux profile. A model-based control approach for the regulation of the poloidal magnetic flux profile at the DIII-D tokamak is proposed in this...
متن کاملReal-time Model-based Reconstruction and Control of Tokamak Plasma Profiles
A new paradigm for real-time plasma profile reconstruction is demonstrated in the TCV tokamak. Predictions based on physics models are merged with available real-time diagnostic data to construct a self-consistent profile state estimate compatible with a timedependent model of transport processes in the plasma. This is enabled by a new RApid Plasma Transport simulatOR (RAPTOR), implemented in t...
متن کاملOptimization, real-time simulation and feedback control of tokamak plasma profiles on TCV
Introduction Control of plasma profiles is an essential ingredient in tokamak operation, in particular to access improved confinement regimes where the safety factor (q) profile plays a major role in determining plasma confinement and stability. This paper shows how physics models of profile transport can be used for improved plasma profile control methods. We show two distinct applications. In...
